A few of Madewell's new arrivals for summer 2024.
Madewell

Summer is fast approaching, and all I can think about is shopping. I mean, you can never have too many easy, breezy staples for the hottest season of the year, am I right? If Madewell's latest styles could talk, they would agree with me. ICYMI, the brand just dropped a ton of versatile new pieces for the season, and they're so ready to get mixed and matched for lazy days by the beach, busy weekend outings and whatever else you've got coming up on your agenda. So, here's my advice: Fill up your cart with as many of the new arrivals as you can, especially if you want to look good this summer without spending a fortune. Because did I mention that I found some of the best Madewell summer pieces starting at just $58?

No, I'm not kidding. Just feast your eyes on this open-stitch sweater tank ($58) that has a relaxed, airy vibe ideal for layering over your bikini top. And whatever you do, make sure you scoop up this linen A-line dress ($98), which can be styled up or down like nobody's business. And since it's made of linen, you can bet it's as lightweight as can be. I can keep going, but you probably want to start shopping now, so here are seven styles you should scoop for summer (I, for one, am buying them as we speak).

Crochet dresses are totally in for the summer, and you can get the same airy look with this sweater tank. Chances are you'll get plenty of use out of this open-knit top, and I don't think I have to tell you why. But for starters, it goes with anything, from jeans to mini skirts, since it's designed to hit at the hip or below, plus it's perfect for layering over a swimsuit or camisole on vacation. It's also made of 100 percent cotton, so it shouldn't feel too heavy on hot days. With all that going on, I'd say it's worth grabbing, especially if you want to look on-trend this season.

I don't know about you, but I live in breezy shorts during the summertime, so it should come as no shock that I'm adding this polyester pair to my cart, ASAP. Here's why you should, too: Not only is the casual style perfect for throwing on at a moment's notice, but they also have an elastic drawstring waist that allows you to pull them on in mere seconds and adjust them for all-day comfort. Beyond their drapey fit, they also boast a shiny satin finish, which means you can probably get away with wearing them to dressier events—even more so because the high-rise shorts are longer than your average pair.

Got more ballet flats than you can count? I bet you still won't be able to find one reason not to snag these leather ballet flat mules, which are basically a backless version of the style you love. But are they just as comfortable? Considering they're equipped with the brand's iconic Cloudlift Lite padding, which is known for making buyers feel like they're walking on clouds, I'd say heck yes. But I'll let one reviewer give you the 411: "Comfort, excellent. Lengthwise, they’re perfect...TL:DR; I love them!" That said, you may want to consider sizing down to get the perfect fit, as that buyer did add that they stretch over time.

I can't make it through summer without my breathable linen dresses, so I'm excited to add this particularly versatile option to my collection. Its simple silhouette is zhuzhed up a bit by its flattering squoval neckline (yes, that's square-ish oval) and crossover back, but there's still no question whether it'll work for any and all occasions. Given its mini length, I can see the frock looking good with heels, sneakers and sandals, and being easily dressed up with different accessories. Plus, it has a body-skimming fit, so I shouldn't have to worry about feeling restricted after every meal. One reviewer adds, "[It's the] perfect length for my height and body style. I often find short dresses too short in the back, but this fit perfectly. Flattering color and shape." Just note that you should size down if you'd like it to be a bit more slim-fitting.

In the market for some new jeans? This unique wide-leg pair is guaranteed to stand out from the rest. For one thing, they feature tailored pleats, slanted front pockets and welt pockets at the back, so they look dressier than your average pair of denim. (Hello, new work pants!) They're also made of a blend of cotton and Tencel Lyocell, which gives them a swingier look and should feel soft to the touch, per the brand. As one reviewer raves, "I love these; they are denim but are slacks, too...[They're] long but not too long with my kitten heels but can be worn with higher heels [too]. The fabric is amazing; soft, light and comfy." Needless to say, they're a *must,* and yes, they're high-waisted, so you can wear 'em with all your favorite crop tops this summer.

If all you need is a casual-yet-classy top to pair with your jean shorts this season, look no further than this lightweight linen option. It's designed with embroidered cutouts along the neckline for visual interest, and has a flowy, A-line silhouette that should feel nice and ventilating on hot days. Several reviewers are impressed with the pretty design, and I think you will be, too. Into your cart it goes!

Forget basic shirtdresses—this asymmetric cover-up with a crossover front is so chic and elevated, you'll find any excuse to wear it off the beach. And not only should it be naturally cooling, but its linen, cotton and viscose fabric is also less prone to wrinkling, according to reviewers, so you should look perfectly crisp all day. They also mentioned that the dress looks more off-white in person, and runs large, so consider sizing down to get the most flattering fit—you probably won't regret it.
