Ever the practical dresser, the 45-year-old actress was spotted wearing classic Adidas Samba OG Sneakers ($100) while out in NYC this month, further solidifying it as the “It” sneaker of the season.

Adidas’s Samba sneakers have long been popular among soccer fans and skateboarders, but in the past year they’ve also been making waves with the fashion set, celebs included. Jennifer Lawrence, Zoë Kravitz, both Hadid sisters and Rihanna have all been spotted wearing the throwback shoe. They’re simple, comfortable and go with just about anything and everything. Case in point, Holmes’s stunning oversize Frankie Shop camel coat ($495) and sleek black Mansur Gavriel tote bag ($795). (P.S. These timeless kicks come in just about any color combo you could imagine. Though we must say we’re partial to following in the Dawson’s Creek actress’s footsteps (literally) and sticking with classic black suede with white stripes, especially for winter when it can be tough to avoid all the slushy post-snow puddles dotting the sidewalks.
Of course, we’d happily copy just about any item from Holmes’s closet—her red Patou crossbody bag, her Reformation jeans, her (and Meghan Markle’s) striped Posse maxi dress—so we simply had to track down her tote bag as well.

As for her tote, it’s none other then Mansur Gavriel’s cult favorite Everyday Tote, made from a gorgeous, durable leather with the brand’s iconic red leather lining. And while it does cost a pretty penny, it’s also made to age beautifully, with the material become softer and more supple with use. And the color combination will never go out of style. It’s also incredibly roomy, with enough space to hold a 16-inch laptop or spare change of shoes in addition to all your everyday essentials.
Now all we need is to track down those ‘70s-inspired square-frame sunnies, and our Katie Holmes wardrobe makeover will be complete. At least, until her next stylish outing.
