When it comes to royal fashion, Kate Middleton is our North Star. And as she’s worked to make a steady return to royal business as usual in the wake of her cancer treatment, it’s her summer sartorial choices that have most caught our eye. These pieces are both minimalist and versatile;items you can easily (and elegantly) mix in with what you already have in your closet while also saving space for a wow-worthy item or two.

In the case of Princess Catherine, sustainability is top of mind, with a couple of royal repeats mixed in from summers past, which underscores their timelessness. Without further ado, here are six looks that are worth working into your summer wardrobe for 2026.

1. Blue Linen Separates

It was the oversize Wimbledon look viewed ‘round the world. When the Princess of Wales stepped out for day four of the annual London-based tennis tournament, she was wearing a Gabriela Hearst linen double-breasted blazer and straight-leg pants. It’s a summer-friendly suiting option that looked beautiful paired together, though each piece is elegant enough to stand on its own. (That blazer would look lovely paired over a dress while the pants would be gorgeous with a white button-up or blouse.) In fact, many a royal (or royally adjacent figure) has stepped out in blue linen this season. Carole Middleton, Queen Mary of Denmark—they’ve each donned a similar blazer style this season. Now, it’s top of our list for our own summer wardrobe.

2. A Little White Dress

During a visit to Evelina Children’s Hospital, Princess Catherine reached for a royal repeat—a little white dress from Suzannah London, but one with loads of movement, too. (The brand even shared a deep dive on their Instagram page about the crepe style, known as the Flippy Wiggle dress.) Kate made the look her own, trading the thin white belt for one in black, but her decision to repeat this style for summer speaks to the versatility (and effortlessness) of a little white dress in your closet.

3. A Swishy Skirt

When Kate traveled to Reggio Emilia in Italy—her first solo international tour since her cancer diagnosis—in June, she leaned on lightweight and packable pieces: this pleated skirt from Jenni Kayne included. The neutral style was something she could easily pair with a white tank and earth-toned blazer. But the midi length and swishy material (which gives movement, much like her Suzannah London dress) have an easy-breezy quality that adds plenty of visual interest, too.

4. A Moisture-Wicking Crewneck

OK, so Catherine was hiking as part of her Three Peaks Challenge, a monumental feat as she traversed three separate U.K.-based peaks over the course of 24 hours and for charity to boot, but her North Face shorts and moisture-wicking Fjällraven top feel like the kind of summer-ready combo you could wear for physical fitness just as easily as you could to grocery shop or run errands.

5. A Pop of Bright Color

Lemon—or canary—yellow has decidedly replaced butter yellow as the “it” color for summer 2026. Cut to the Princess of Wales at Royal Ascot this season, dressed in a Roksanda style (another repeat) that made her impossible to miss in the crowds. It certainly makes the case for choosing a bold and eye-catching hue. The unofficial term for it is dopamine dressing—when you choose clothing that actively triggers a mood boost—but it’s certainly a key way to think about building out your own royal-inspired capsule wardrobe. (In other words, core pieces you can mix and match are great, but don’t shy away from a one-and-done look that’s a total standout.)

6. Something Gingham

It was a surprise appearance by Princess Catherine at the Royal Charity Polo Cup and she was dressed in one of summer’s most hard-working prints: gingham. Her Temperley London dress (which is past-season) felt easy breezy. It was also an instant reminder that this is a pattern, in any color, feels both timeless and playful. Especially great? It’s a look that requires very little styling. (In the case of the Princess of Wales, she paired it with a bracelet stack and sunglasses—that’s it.) Another staple worth adding to your summer capsule, not to mention one you’ll reach for again and again.
