A quick bit of bad news: Sophie’s look is, unfortunately, past season. In fact, the duchess has worn this style on a variety of occasions before, including to Trooping the Colour in 2022, but also for a Buckingham Palace garden party in 2023. That said, gingham, especially in such a delicate ballet pink, is trending for the warmer weather months and Sophie’s appearance on the royal balcony today got us thinking about how we could incorporate such a pretty and subtle print—in this exact same shade—into our own wardrobe this season.

It’s worth noting that what struck us most about Sophie’s style as she stood side-by-side with King Charles, Kate Middleton, even Princess Charlotte today is how much it pops in a sea of darker hued suits. (Of course, Queen Camilla, who wore a vibrant royal blue, is the exception.) But it felt Queen Elizabeth II-esque to wear a style that allowed Sophie to be seen, no matter what. (We also love her hatband in a matchy-matchy pink. So chic.)
