As the rest of the royals gear up for the holidays (Together at Christmas! The Royal Variety Performance!), Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, has been in Peru toasting to over 200 years of U.K.-Peru relations with a plethora of royal engagements ranging from environmental protection to women’s empowerment. But that’s not all: The duchess has also been dressed to the nines. One of our favorite ensembles? A chic and winter-ready black and white floral number from Erdem that she wore for a visit with Peruvian President José Jerí. Sophie’s ‘Violetta’ dress is such a striking—and stand-out—silhouette. The long sleeves, the flattering drape of the faux wrap—it’s as elegant as it is easy to throw on. It’s also on trend: Moody florals are always in, but the black and white color palette feels reflective of the season.
We love that it’s a look that’s incredibly easy to layer. Yes, Sophie wears the dress on it’s own, plus a pair of black and white pumps, but it would also look chic with a blazer or a pair of black boots.

Style aside, Sophie’s trip to Peru was action-packed with a visit to the Indigenous Women’s Rights Defenders, the Pacaya Samiria Nature Reserve and more, per the Royal Family’s official Instagram account. The duchess also made time to visit Divino Niño Jesus Vision Centre, which runs social eye care programs in southern Lima and the Amazon, a cause that closely aligns with her royal work. (Sophie is a passionate advocate for the sight loss community after her daughter, Lady Louise, was born with esotropia, a condition where one or both eyes point inward.)
