We’re approaching that awkward in-between season when it’s no longer “bury-me-in-mountains-of-thermal layers” cold, but it’s not quite spring yet either. If you’re hard-pressed on what to wear from now until the flowers bloom, you’re not alone. That’s why I turned to ASOS—the mega-retailer that has everything from Free People to Levi’s to Nike, plus its own brand, ASOS DESIGN—for a little closet refresh. Here are 18 transitional pieces from ASOS that I’m adding to my cart, including a couple of handbags, comfortable ballet flats and lots of denim.Top of FormBottom of Form

When it comes to handbag trends, suede bags and totes are hotter than hot right now, and I’m going to take it a step further and shine the spotlight on belted bags like these. I’m anticipating this style to really take off in 2025, and this accessory from ASOS really hits every mark on delivering a trendy-yet-timeless handbag that will age like fine wine. It’s super spacious (cough cough, perfect for work) and has a slouchy silhouette that looks just as good hanging on your shoulder as it does held up under your armpit like an oversize clutch.

Has the barn coat trend piqued your interest? Then you’re going to love this cool take on the traditional outerwear. It’s designed with an oversize fit, so if you don’t want it to be too boxy or spacious, I’d recommend sizing down. Wear it as a layering piece over thermals and sweaters in the winter, then with a sheer skirt in spring.

This rich brown shade is a winter staple, but just wait and see how it’ll transition with ease once spring arrives. The lightweight satin fabric definitely plays a major role in its versatility. Plus, the elastic waistband is a godsend in terms of comfortability.

Whoever thought to blend a funnel neck coat with a trench coat is truly a genius. Keep wind and rain out with the high collar and enjoy the makings of your favorite spring jacket with this ASOS number. My only qualm is that there aren’t any pockets, but thanks to its cropped hem, you’ll have full access to your pant pockets.

What’s not to love about these wide-leg sailor jeans? They’re the type of denim that’ll instantly elevate your outfit because of the dark wash and decorative (and functional!) front pockets. Pair them with your favorite Chelsea boots for now then swap your shoes out for sexy heels once it begins to warm up.

I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of over my two-sizes-too-big oxford shirts. Hence, why I’m totally head over heels for this wrap blouse. It still gives me that same professional and classic appeal of a button-up shirt but spices it up with a little bit of shapeliness and style. Just wait until you see the darting along the back.

I know I’m always preaching about wearing a little black dress for a date night, but this chocolate brown style is a great way switch it up. From the elegant draping and tie details to the high neckline and mini cut, the slinky dress strikes a harmonious balance between classy and sexy. It’ll even look fab with a pair of brown tights and boots if you’re into the monochromatic look.

A denim shirt has re-established itself as a staple in the ol’ capsule wardrobe. The key to making it look fresh and modern (and not like you’re stuck in the aughts) is to opt for oversize fits like this ASOS blouse. You can still tuck it into your jeans for a polished look or wear it untucked and only fasten a few buttons for a street style-approved ensemble.

Fall, winter, spring or summer, a trusty blazer is one of my favorite items to throw on no matter the occasion. I find it can round out a pair of jeans and white tank, but also look fabulous belted over a midi dress.

While you might not be able to get away with wearing your lounge sweatpants out of the house, you can guarantee that these tailored pants will more than suffice—and feel just as comfy. A few more details I love: the plum color, the striped design, the white piping and the drawstring waistband. Style them with your faux-fur coat for a smart juxtaposition, and complete the look with everyone’s favorite Adidas sneakers.

I’ve seen a handful of iterations of burgundy bags with asymmetrical designs, but none at such an affordable price point as this. The shoulder bag is a cute weekend piece for holding the essentials, like your phone, wallet, keys and—of course—lipstick.

It’s not really spring if you don’t whip out a cardigan, so this long-sleeve crewneck is an must. It’s cozy and has a slim fit with a little bit of roominess. You can wear it buttoned up, left open, draped over your shoulders or so much more, and this style is also available in more vibrant and neutral colors besides this gorgeous navy.

You heard it here first: All of the fashion girlies are investing in textured skirts like this flocked denim skirt. It has the look of a corduroy-meets-suede finish, making it such a sophisticated piece that can go from board room meetings to dinner with the girls with ease. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to walk without restriction in this because of the kick slit at the back.

Would you believe me if I said this wasn’t a boho blouse straight off the Chloé runway? If you know what’s good for you, you’ll snag this flowy blouse while it’s still in stock. The sheer trend never looked so good.

This quilted liner will do wonders under a wool coat or on its own, and, let’s face it, that burgundy shade is meant to be shown off.

OK, I’m obsessed with these barrel jeans for a few reasons. For one, they have a dark indigo wash that looks really elegant no matter the season, but especially in the cooler months. I also appreciate how the barrel leg has a good amount of shape to it but isn’t too voluminous to wear as an everyday option.

Yes, you can wear faux-suede ballet flats while it’s cold out. The key is to pair them with a cashmere or wool crew or knee-high socks that you can scrunch up in a cute way and wear under jeans or with a skirt. And I suspect they’ll get even more use in the springtime, too.

What do you get when you cross a leather jacket with a shearling coat? This borg beauty that’s quite literally built for those transitional months between winter and spring. So, this is your sign to break away from the lapels and enjoy this clean, collarless crew neck this season.
