If you’re looking for an edge-of-your-seat thriller to add to your streaming queue, you’ve come to the right place.

Trap is a psychological drama that originally hit theaters in 2024, but it was just recently added to Netflix’s database. And within a matter of days, Trap has already claimed the number one spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched movies. (It’s currently ranked ahead of Despicable Me 4 and Plankton: The Movie.)

In the film, Josh Hartnett stars as a dad named Cooper Abbott, who takes his daughter to what’s supposed to be the biggest concert in Philadelphia. When they arrive, he notices that security and law enforcement are positioned at every exit. Also, officers are escorting innocent concert goers away from the stage. He soon learns that an infamous serial killer, dubbed The Butcher, is somewhere in the crowd. Can they escape without drawing attention to themselves?

In addition to Hartnett, Trap also stars Ariel Donoghue (Wolf Like Me), Saleka Shyamalan (Good Grades), Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Hayley Mills (The Parent Trap), Jonathan Langdon (Robyn Hood), Mark Bacolcol (Altar Boy), Kid Cudi (Don’t Look Up) and Russell “Russ” Vitale (Don’t Move).

Trap is directed by M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Split, Signs). Although the film is not based on a true story, it was inspired by a real-life operation called Operation Flagship, where investigators sent fake giveaway tickets to fugitives and staged an undercover sting.
