As The Voice gears up for its milestone 30th season, fans are already in that pre-season hype phase, refreshing news, guessing twists, and basically waiting for the premiere like it’s a personal event. And even though the new season doesn’t premiere until September, NBC is clearly not wasting any time building anticipation. Between the return of Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine last season and now a fresh wave of coaching news, things are already feeling pretty stacked. And the latest announcement? Honestly… kind of unexpected in the best way.
On May 12, NBC revealed that Queen Latifah will be joining The Voice as a coach for Season 30. While a lot of people know her today for her acting career, the 56-year-old is also a full-on music industry veteran with serious credentials. She’s been in the game for decades, winning a Grammy Award back in 1995 for her iconic track “U.N.I.T.Y.” and earning six additional Grammy nominations since then.
She’s also picked up an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nod for her role in the film adaptation of Chicago. So yeah, she’s not exactly new to this.
