Kelly Clarkson Debuted This Year's Must-Have Hairstyle & I Have Major Hair Envy

Any given day, season or year can quite literally be defined by whatever’s trending and 2025 has been no exception. From bold animal prints to summer anklets, we’ve seen plenty of style moments take over. One trend that kicked off earlier this year? The bob haircut. Yep, it seems like everyone’s been embracing the chop and now Kelly Clarkson is officially on board and just in time for summer and her big return to The Voice.

The 43-year-old singer debuted a fresh, side-parted wispy bob in a new promo video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, July 23. The teaser, hyping the upcoming season 29 of The Voice, shows Clarkson rocking her new 'do along with a bold red lip and a sleek black-and-white menswear-inspired outfit. “This time, we’ve got some tricks up our sleeve. Y’all get ready,” she says in the clip.

This marks a noticeable shift from her usual long blonde waves, which she was just recently seen sporting during her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. And it's the perfect cut for summer, in my opinion. It's light and breezy, a great way to beat the heat.

The powerhouse singer is officially back in her red chair for season 29 of The Voice dubbed The Voice: Battle of Champions, airing spring 2026. This season will be a big one for Kelly, as she returns to coaching while simultaneously filming The Kelly Clarkson Show, which she relocated to New York City. (She last coached back in season 23.)

And Kelly’s not alone in making the big chop. Just last month, Selena Gomez jumped on the bob train with a choppy lob and shaggy bangs. She paired the look with a bright orange lip and rosy cheeks—likely Rare Beauty, of course—and a cozy robe.

“I would, but I'd regret it, then get it redone so I simply won’t #bangs,” she wrote in her caption.

Judging by her recent birthday pics, Selena’s bob wasn’t a permanent cut but she nailed the look anyway.
