This True-Crime Doc Is Netflix’s New #1 Movie After 2 Weeks of Climbing the Charts

True-crime fans ought to break out their detective hats for Netflix’s all-new movie, The Tinder Swindler.

The film—which was created by the masterminds behind Don’t F**k with Cats—premiered on the streaming service earlier this month. And after weeks of climbing the charts, The Tinder Swindler has finally claimed the number one spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies. (It’s currently ranked ahead of Despicable Me 2, St. Vincent, Tall Girl 2 and Despicable Me.)

The must-watch documentary introduces viewers to Shimon Hayut (AKA The Tinder Swindler), a convicted conman who used the dating app to trick women into “lending” him money. After meeting someone online, Hayut would shower his date with lavish trips and vacations. Once he gained their trust, Hayut would ask them for money and then vanish.

“You can find a bit of everything on Tinder,” someone says in the clip. “But one little swipe can change your life.”

The Tinder Swindler doubles as a platform for the victims to tell their truth. The show offers a gut-wrenching look at their eerily similar stories, all of which lead to the same conclusion.

“That’s when the police tell me the man I loved was never real,” someone adds.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Posing as a wealthy, jet-setting diamond mogul, he wooed women online then conned them out of millions of dollars. Now some victims plan for payback.”

Revenge never sounded so good.
