New seasons of popular shows like Love Is Blind and Shadow and Bone may have just dropped on Netflix, but there's a brand-new title that flew past them to become the most-watched show on the streaming site. Only 48 hours after its release, The Night Agent has become the number-one TV series on Netflix.

Based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk and created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Lie to Me), The Night Agent follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who works as an emergency nighttime phone operator at the White House. However, Peter finds himself tangled up in a conspiracy when he's informed of a mole who works high within the U.S. government.

So far, The Night Agent has been compared to past shows like 24 and Netflix's recent Noah Centineo-starring series The Recruit. Meanwhile, others have compared it to the smash Bourne Identity film series. Needless to say, it seems the action thriller has intrigued audiences.

You may recognize lead star Basso from his role on The Big C or from movies like Super 8 and Hillbilly Elegy. Along with Basso, The Night Agent stars recent Academy Award nominee Hong Chau (The Whale), Luciane Buchanan (Filthy Rich), Fola Evans-Akingbola (Siren), Sarah Desjardins (Yellowjackets), D. B. Woodside (Parenthood) and more.
