Details on Sara Ramirez’s Net Worth, from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ to Their Music Career

We all recognize Sara Ramirez as Dr. Callie Torres, AKA the longest-running LGBTQ character in U.S. television history, but this isn’t their only accomplishment.

Aside from their groundbreaking role on Grey’s Anatomy, the Tony award winner had major success on Broadway and even dabbled in music. But how did this affect their net worth? From their acting roles to their singing career, keep reading for details about Sara Ramirez’s net worth.

Is Che Gaslighting Miranda on ‘And Just Like That’? (The Answer Is Yes, Yes, a Million Times Yes)

1. What Is Sara Ramirez’s Net Worth?

As of 2022, the 46-year-old star is worth an estimated $5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

2. Were They On Broadway?

After attending Juilliard, Ramirez was discovered by a casting director and booked their first job playing Wahzinak in Paul Simon's 1998 Broadway musical, The Capeman. And in the following year, they appeared in The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm.

According to Playbill, Ramirez’s other Broadway performances included A Class Act, Dreamgirls and the critically acclaimed Spamalot, which earned them a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Their salaries for these performances haven’t been made public, but we’re sure they gave their bank account a nice upgrade.

3. When Did Their On-screen Career Begin?

In 1998, Ramirez also made their big screen debut as a cashier named Rose in the romantic comedy, You've Got Mail. They went on to appear in several shows and films, including Spin City, Law & Order SVU, NYPD Blue and Chicago. Ramirez also put their vocal skills to use with voiceover acting, working on projects like Dora the Explorer, Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor.

4. Were They On ‘grey’s Anatomy’?

On an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Ramirez revealed that ABC executives were so impressed by their Spamalot performance that they offered Ramirez the opportunity to star in any ABC show they wanted. They went with Shonda Rhimes’s Grey’s Anatomy, and while the team was initially unsure of who to cast them as, Rhimes decided to cast them as George’s love interest and build the character around them.

Ramirez had an impressive 16-year run on the medical drama, and while their salary hasn’t been revealed, we can assume that a huge part of their wealth resulted from the show’s overwhelming success.

5. Can They Sing?

Ramirez also trained as a vocalist at Juilliard, so it comes as no surprise that they dabbled in music. They released their first single, "Silent Night," in 2009, which was played in an episode of Grey's Anatomy (season six, episode ten—to be exact). And in 2011, they dropped their debut EP, Sara Ramirez, which hit no. 9 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart and no. 37 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Here’s hoping Ramirez will treat us to even more original music in the future.
