Netflix’s ‘Love on the Spectrum’ Is Back for Season 2 & the Trailer Already Has Us Majorly Invested

We’re total suckers for dating shows that tug at our heartstrings. Because there’s no harm in investing our time in the highs and lows of a couple who doesn’t even know we exist, right?

That’s why we were thrilled when Netflix dropped the first official trailer for Love on the Spectrum season two, which is set to premiere next month.

The trailer introduces viewers to the stars, who all have the same goal: to find love. “We all want our happily ever after,” someone says in the clip, “but it’s more complex than that.”

Love on the Spectrum season two is expected to be very similar to the first installment, following young adults on the autism spectrum as they try to navigate love, dating and relationships. The series also includes appearances from people who help the cast members along their journey, including family, friends, a relationship coach and a clinical psychologist.

According to director Cian O’Leary, the idea for Love on the Spectrum was inspired by real dating experiences. “In making television series about disability over the years, I have spoken to many young adults on the autism spectrum as well as families, job coaches, psychologists and autism organizations,” he said in a statement, per Entertainment Weekly. “One thing really stood out for me: So many people on the spectrum were wanting to find love, but many had never even been on a date in their lives.”

He continued, “When you speak to a large number of people whose main desire in life is to have a partner, and they haven’t even been on a date, something isn’t right.”

Love on the Spectrum season two will hit Netflix on September 21, which is probably around the same time that Bachelor in Paradise will end. (#OntoTheNextOne)
