Elle Woods on the Small Screen? ‘Legally Blonde’ May Be Turned into a Television Show

First, Reese Witherspoon surprised us with the news of a Legally Blonde 3 (which is still in the works). Now, fans might also be getting...a Legally Blonde television show?

Yes, you read that right. According to Deadline, Amazon Studios is in the early stages of developing a television show based on the popular film series.

Due to the studios’ newfound ownership over MGM’s movie collection, they have been going through the entertainment company’s film roaster and Legally Blonde was one of the projects chosen to potentially receive the television treatment.

The 2000 classic Legally Blonde follows a young sorority girl named Ellie Woods (Witherspoon). She wants nothing more than to be the future Mrs. Warner Huntington III. The only problem? Her boyfriend (Matthew Davis) doesn’t want to pop the question because she is “too blonde.” So, she enrolls in Harvard Law School with the hopes of winning him back.

Alongside Witherspoon and Davis, the ensemble cast features Jennifer Coolidge, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matt Davis and Linda Cardellini. The film was followed by Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, which was released in 2003.

Back in August 2022, Witherspoon, 47, shared a huge update on Legally Blonde 3. While sitting down with USA Today, she revealed, “I’m still hoping that Legally Blonde 3 is gonna come together in the right way.”

The Morning Show star went on to explain that she wants the Legally Blonde sequel to turn out just right. Witherspoon explained, “It’s just like Top Gun: They waited a long time to make another version of that movie, and I loved the nostalgia piece they incorporated in it.”
