Who Is Jodie Foster’s Wife, Alexandra Hedison? Here's Everything We Know

Jodie Foster is a force to be reckoned with.

Not only has she snagged two Academy Awards, but the legendary actress also has three British Academy Film Awards, three Golden Globes and a number of critically acclaimed films under her belt. In fact, just recently, Foster received her third Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for The Mauritanian, where she plays Nancy Hollander. And in her acceptance speech, she made sure to thank her wife, Alexandra Hedison.

Before her remarks, Foster shared a big kiss with her partner and said, "I love my wife! Thank you Alex, and [my dog] Ziggy and Aaron Rodgers!" Naturally, fans are now curious to know even more about Foster's partner. For instance when did they get married? And does she also work in the entertainment industry? Here's what we know.

Foster's wife, Alexandra Hedison, is a fine art photographer. She's done quite a few exhibits, and some of her impressive work can be found on her personal website. But before shifting into photography full time, Hedison was an actress and director, much like her partner.

You may have spotted her in shows like Prey and The L Word, but her acting career was short-lived because she wasn't a fan of the spotlight. She told The New York Times, "I was supporting myself, but I was miserable. Actors need to be front and center all the time. That's not me."

After dating for about a year, Foster and Hedison tied the knot in April of 2014. Given that both ladies are notoriously private about their personal lives, further details haven't been shared about the nuptials, but the big announcement came several months after Foster gave her memorable speech at the 2013 Golden Globes.

While accepting her Cecil B. DeMille Award, she addressed her coming out moment and said, "I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the stone age. If you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler, if you had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe then you too might value privacy above all else."

Foster dated Cydney Bernard for 14 years after meeting her on the set of Sommersby in 1993. Though they never got married, the couple had two sons together (one in 1998, one in 2001). Meanwhile, Hedison had a previous relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 2000 to 2004.
