Like all of us, Jennifer Aniston is a huge fan of Mariska Hargitay.

In an Instagram Stories post on Monday, the Friends star revealed she had just watched Hargitay’s new documentary, My Mom, Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay, and had nothing but praise for the film. “Oh my Heart. Beautifully done. I cannot stop thinking about this film," the story was captioned, accompanied by a photo of the movie poster. The documentary, of course, is directed by Hargitay and is a critical examination of her late mother, legendary actress Jayne Mansfield, who tragically passed away at the age of 34 in a traffic accident when Hargitay was just three years old.

The film made its debut on HBO on June 27 after premiering at the Cannes Classics section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. There was also a special screening held in Los Angeles, which was attended by Hargitay's children, August (18), Amaya (14) and Andrew (13).

My Mom, Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay currently has a rare Rotten Tomatoes rating of 100 percent, receiving praise from both fans and critics alike for the loving way in which Hargitay tells her mother’s story. "Saw this at the Tribeca premiere and watched it again on HBO. Truly moving film. Great direction, great storytelling," writes one Tomatoes audience member. "By far the best documentary I’ve ever seen. Beautifully done, had me in tears about 10 minutes into it," adds another.

During a recent interview with The New York Times, the 61-year-old Hargitay revealed that she still has very clear memories of her mother and has even drawn parenting inspiration from her. "The reason that I’m like the way I am is because I learned from her," she told the publication, adding, “I learned what not to do. I learned not to let anyone tell me—that I decide." She continued, "She was amazing.. That’s been the gift: I got to see her. I got to have so many moments with her. And we got to make a movie together. She didn’t get to do the kind of art she wanted. But we did it together. We made a piece of art together."
