Here’s everything we know about Bridgerton season three, including the three brand-new actors who are joining the cast and one O.G. actress who isn’t returning.

1. Is Bridgerton Returning for Season 3?

You bet. Long before season two premiered, Netflix had already renewed Bridgerton for seasons three and four. The best part? Series creator Shonda Rhimes previously revealed that the show will likely last for several seasons. “There are eight Bridgerton siblings, and as far as I’m concerned, there are eight Bridgerton seasons,” she told Variety. “And maybe more.”

2. What Is Bridgerton About?

Set in London during the early 1800s (commonly known as the Regency Period), Bridgerton is based on the namesake book series by Julia Quinn. The story follows the Bridgerton children as they search for true love in a competitive (and equally diverse) marriage market. The first season focuses on Daphne, while the second revolves around Anthony.

3. What Is Season 3 About?

Bridgerton season three will focus on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). According to Variety, Couglan shared the big announcement during last year’s FYSEE panel. This heavily deviates from the book series, being that Benedict Bridgerton’s love life is explored in the third book. But, it seems the streaming service is skipping ahead to the fourth book, which further explores Penelope and Colin’s relationship.

4. Who's in the Cast?

The Bridgerton siblings are played by Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony), Luke Thompson (Benedict), Luke Newton (Colin), Claudia Jessie (Eloise), Will Tilston (Gregory) and Florence Hunt (Hyacinth). Hannah Dodd is taking over the role of Francesca (previously played by Ruby Stokes).

Unfortunately, Dynevor announced that she won’t appear in Bridgerton season 3. “Potentially in the future,” she said. “But season three, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.”

Other cast members include Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) and Polly Walker (Lady Portia Featherington).

Not to mention, the iconic Julie Andrews voices the show’s all-knowing narrator, Lady Whistledown. While Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings) appeared in season one, he’s not expected to return for any future episodes.

But, do you know who is returning for season three? Simone Ashley, that’s who. The young actress, who played Kate Sharma in season two, is coming back for the new installment. “We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started,” she said, according to Town & Country.

5. Are There Any New Cast Members?

As a matter of fact, three actors will be joining the cast for Bridgerton season 3. According to Variety, the new episodes will introduce Daniel Francis as the charming and charismatic Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips will portray the wealthy and eccentric Lord Debling and James Phoon will play the swoonworthy (but slightly daft) James Phoon. Hannah New (Black Sails) will also join the cast as a widow named Lady Tilley Arnold.

6. Has Filming For Bridgerton Season 3 Already Begun?

Bridgerton season 3 started filming last summer, which we learned thanks to a clip that was shared on the official Netflix Bridgerton account.

In the video, the cast members each hold up two fingers, which they flip around and transform into three. The caption reads, “I spy the makings of a new social season. By the looks of things, it would seem the third installment of Bridgerton is officially underway.” And at the end of the clip, Coughlan says, “Bridgerton season 3 filming has officially begun.”
