10 of the Best Celebrity Dog Moms to Follow on Instagram

Happy National Dog Day! Tis the season to flood people's timelines with random photos of your furry pups and enjoy cute snaps of celebrities with their four-legged friends.

Although we've been enjoying rare glimpses of their glamorous homes on Instagram, we just can't get enough of these stars' relatable pet photos, whether it's Jennifer Garner reading her pup a bedtime story or Reese Witherspoon's blue-eyed bulldog completely ignoring social distancing rules. So, to celebrate this special day, we're honoring 10 proud celebrity dog moms.

1. Jennifer Garner

You might have spotted Garner's golden retriever, Birdie, on Instagram a few times during her segment called 'Books with Birdie.' The Peppermint actress typically cuddles with her pup and reads Birdie a children’s story, often acting it out with stuffed animals. Talk about dog mom goals.

2. Natalie Portman

Portman has two mixed-breed dogs: one named Penny and another named Sunday, who was adopted from the Paws for Life K9 Rescue.

After rescuing Sunday, she said, “So grateful to all the people @pawsforlifek9 who trained Sunday, the newest addition to our family! Paws for Life is a prison dog training program for PTSD service dogs and CGC certified adoptable dogs. I saw first-hand how their program is healing for both the trainer and dog.”

3. Priyanka Chopra

Chopra and her husband, Nick Jonas, are the proud parents of three dogs—all of whom have their own instagram accounts, FYI. There's Gino the German shepherd, Diana the chihuahua and Panda, their most recent addition.

In August, Chopra welcomed the pup to her family and shared, “We adopted this little rescue (soon he won’t be so little) just a few weeks ago. We can’t be sure but he seems to be a Husky Australian Shepard mix.... and those eyes... and the ears!!!”

4. Reese Witherspoon

The actress adopted her blue-eyed bulldog, Lou, in 2019, and he's been popping up in several of her selfies ever since (keep them coming, Reese!). In addition to Lou, Witherspoon is also the proud mom of her French bulldog, Pepper, and her brown Labrador, Hank.

5. Kristen Bell

Aside from sharing cute pics with her two canines, Mr. Shakes and Lola, the animal lover and advocate is vocal about the importance of rescuing dogs.

After taking in her one-eyed Triscuit, she said, “I chose to adopt as opposed to go to a breeder because I wanted a family member not a handbag. I felt like it should be less about the purchase and more about connecting with someone who also needs some companionship. I think a lot about all the animals that are in the pounds right now that don’t have homes that are put down because people don’t rescue enough. And I wanted to save a life.”

6. Amanda Seyfried

In her interview with People, Seyfriend mentioned that Finn, her Australian Shepherd rescue dog, actually helped her overcome her anxiety. Calling him her “lifesaver,” she said, “As soon as he was mine, like 24 hours after I got him, I realized something about me needed him. He completely changed my life and helped me find my solitude and my independence.”

7. Kaley Cuoco

One look at Cuoco's Instagram account will tell you that she's very passionate about animals. Her pets include her bulldog, Tank, her white terrier, Ruby, and Pit Bull mix dogs Norman, Blueberry and Shirley. The actress, who also owns a goat, a bunny, and a few horses, volunteers her free time to help Paw Works, a rescue organization that aims to find homes for abandoned animals.

In August, Cuoco also debuted an Instagram account for her newest dog, Dump Truck (known as 'Dumpy'). The bio reads, "I’m a tiny rescued senior whose life changed over night! My mom is @kaleycuoco, she never misses a moment to document hilarious adventures!"

8. Nina Dobrev

After sadly losing her cat, Lynx, the Vampire Diaries alum rescued her dog, Maverick, from a shelter and revealed that he actually helped her heal. She said, "She rescued me as much as I rescued her. I was so lost after Lynx passed, but Maverick brought me back to life. I call her the world's chillest dog." For more cute snaps, you can check out Maverick's Instagram account here.

9. Chrissy Teigen

Remember Petey? Teigen rescued the brown poodle after she learned about him from TV personality Ellen DeGeneres. And judging by the model and author's videos, the kids have already taken a liking to the new family addition (we can totally see why).

Teigen said: "This little guy grabbed our heart first and will hold onto it forever!"

10. Jessica Chastain

Seeing Chastain's three-legged rescue dog, Chaplin, honestly makes us want to rescue one ourselves. In the past, while describing her pup, she noted that she'd "adopted every animal I've ever had," and we can totally see why. To honor her dog, she wrote, "Showing gratitude for the best pooch out there! Happy #internationaldogday Chaplin!!"
