Nicole Kidman can always be counted on to have her hair done perfectly. (A stylist certainly doesn't hurt.) But whether she's put her curls through the straightener or let them be, the actress always seems to look perfectly undone. As it turns out, the secret to the beachy waves she's been wearing lately come from a surprisingly affordable tool: the Wavytalk Cool Curl Pencil. It's usually $69 (a hair tool under $100 with killer results?! Say less), but during Amazon Prime Day (running until June 26), it's marked down 34 percent to $46.

The Wavytalk Cool Curl Pencil was credited by Kidman's hairstylist, Adir Abergel, for giving her the effortless locks she flaunted at the Academy Awards.
“To create the newly interpreted Moulin Rouge waves, I used [the] WavyTalk Cool Curl Pencil to put in those natural bends where needed,” Abergel explained to People at the time.
Wavytalk
As a beauty writer, I've seen my fair share of hot styling tools. In fact, I currently have not one, but SEVEN hair curling apparatuses in my apartment right now, in the name of research. And that's not counting the tools I have gifted away. Which goes to say, I'm wary of any product claiming to be revolutionary. But the Wavytalk has piqued my interest.
Though Abergel used it on Kidman's mid-length hair, the Cool Curl Pencil is billed as a hair tool for those with short hair. Over the last several years I've let my hair grow out for practical purposes, but there were cosmetic ones, too. It was so difficult to style short strands because I was afraid of burning my scalp and because my hair never held a shape. The Cool Curl Pencil actually allows you to get close to the scalp for a root lift without feeling like your head is going to melt off.
This is thanks in part to the unique, 104 cooling air vents. This also functions to reduce frizz and help the curls set. (Wavytalk claims up to 48 hours of hold.) The barrel is also short-hair friendly at a slim 0.65 inches.
After rediscovering old photos of myself with a bob and lob, I've been contemplating doing another big chop. One of the things holding me back was wondering how I'd style super short hair. The Wavytalk might just be the answer. And with that, I might be booking a salon appointment...
