Halle Berry is nothing short of an icon. As it stands, she's still the only Black woman to have ever won an Academy Award for Best Actress, and one of only 12 Black women to have won an Oscar overall. So, when she shows up to the Academy Awards each year, I'm always paying attention. It was an eventful night for Berry after giving an impromptu kiss to Adrian Brody on the red carpet in a joking callback to the one Brody planted on her in 2002, when he accepted his Best Actor award for The Pianist.

Amidst the commotion of the playful ambush, I noticed something else about her lips: the frosted brown color she was sporting, which brought me straight back to the '90s. Her secret? The Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine lippie ($48) in the shade Honey Bliss.

Berry's makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, used products from a variety of different brands to achieve her warm and dewy look for the red carpet. He kept things fairly muted, opting for a soft brown smoky eye and a bold brow. Her lipstick was definitely the star of the show, however, and paired incredibly well with her slicked-back lob and a strapless dress adorned with mirrored fragments, achieving a chic, glassy look.

Though the Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine has been available for a while in a matte finish, it recently launched in a glossy, shine formula. The oil used in the composition of the Baume Shine is derived from olive fruit, which has antioxidant properties and works in tandem with shea butter to nourish the lips. It also includes a Hydraboost Complex that helps to keep the lips soft and moisturized with frequent use. Per the brand, the Baume Shine can help lips look more plump, feel more nourished and supple and appear less chapped.

Chanel

One Chanel client raved about the balm, saying, "Beautiful buildable color. Wonderful smooth glide-on texture. Packaging, perfect. Like what you expect from Chanel. Getting ready to order again!" The new shine formula is also available in five other hues: Tender Peach, Cherry Burst, Blushing Pink, Raspberry Kiss and Charming Lilac, if you're trying to spice things up with a little color. Plus, who doesn't love a little shine?
