The One Thing to Do When Youre Feeling Overwhelmed
NBC

You know those days when you wake up and already feel like you’re behind because of all the things you have to do in the next 24 hours? (Ugh, adulthood.) Well, the next time you start to feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath and try this one simple trick instead: Turn off your phone.

Yup, that’s it. Between the calls, texts, notifications and, um, Instagram, it’s all too easy to get distracted or tempted to multitask. And though it may feel like you’re doing more this way, it’s actually just delaying your progress and subconsciously making you feel more anxious.

By turning off your phone, you’d be surprised at how much better you’re able to focus on a single task at a time. One by one, you’ll be able to plow through that monster to-do list and free up time for more pressing matters—like meeting your friends for a glass of wine after work or treating yourself to a pedicure (and add-on shoulder massage) for being such a boss today.
