7 Affordable Flights to Book for a Midwinter Getaway

Miami’s charming little sister is having a moment, with a booming art scene, eclectic restaurants and the opportunity to barhop by boat. Oh, and a round-trip flight will set you back just 80 bucks.

In need of a post-holiday excursion filled with waterfalls, lemurs and zip-lining? Hop on a $279 flight to Costa Rica’s capital. Spend a few days taking in the town’s museums and barrios, then rent a four-wheel drive to explore the area’s famed cloud forests.

A long weekend in the City of Light for $269? Mais oui. Even if you’ve been before, we bet there are a few bucket-list activities you haven’t checked off yet (like exploring the catacombs or gallery hopping in the Marais).

Calling all ski bums: The mountain town with Wild West roots is a nonstop five-hour flight away (from $291). Once you’ve had your fill of those black diamonds (or green circles, no judgment), go snowshoeing in Grand Teton National Park or check out the winter herds at the National Elk Refuge.

The world’s most livable city boasts regal architecture, a car-free city center and food that was made for the colder months (hello, schnitzel and chocolate-apricot Sacher torte). The best way to escape the dead of winter? Go where it’s currently summer. And while we realize a trip to the southern hemisphere isn’t exactly an impulse buy, the fares we spotted (in the $600 range) are no joke.
