Zac Efron is returning to the small screen…but it’s not what you think.

The 31-year-old actor will star alongside Anna Kendrick in a brand-new TV series on Facebook Watch, Human Discoveries. Although the show already has an all-star cast—including Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Jillian Bell (Workaholics), Paul Scheer (The League) and Lisa Kudrow (Friends)—there’s a small catch: It will be animated.

Human Discoveries follows a group of friends living at the beginning of human civilization, which means they’re tasked with discovering fire, wheels and more of humanity’s best (and worst) inventions. The series was created by Chris Bruno and David Howard Lee.

“With Human Discoveries, we’ve assembled an incredible creative team, and we’re proud to join forces with such uniquely funny and smart collaborators as Zac and Anna,” Corey Campodonico, co-founder of production company ShadowMachine, said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing this show with everyone through Facebook Watch, our other amazing partner, for the series. It’s a new exciting, adventure for all of us.”

While Efron has appeared in numerous films—including High School Musical 3, Hairspray and The Greatest Showman—this is his first series regular role since he appeared on Summerland back in 2004.

So yeah, it’s about damn time. Human Discoveries is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
