A New British Period Drama Just Dropped on Amazon Prime (& it Belongs on Your Radar)

Looking for another period drama to binge before the summer ends? Amazon Prime is answering your prayers because it just dropped a full season of its brand new series, The Pursuit of Love.

Based on the novel by Nancy Mitford, the series is set in Europe before the start of World War II and follows Linda Radlett (Lily James) and her “favorite person,” Fanny Logan. Stuck in the same old boring routine, the duo decides to head out on a quest for love.

Amazon’s official synopsis reads, “The Pursuit of Love follows the travails of the Radlett family. At the heart of this adaptation is the relationship between cousins Linda and Fanny—their friendship will be put to the test as Fanny settles for a steady life and Linda decides to follow her heart, falling first for a stuffy Tory politician, then an ardent Communist, and finally a French duke. As pre-war political divisions split the nation, these women’s diverging choices raise intimate, personal and timeless questions about freedom, love, sexual politics, and the mystery of the human heart.”

In addition to James, the three part series also stars Emily Mortimer (Mary Poppins Returns), Dolly Wells (Bridget Jones’s Diary), John Heffernan (Eye in the Sky), Shazad Latif (The Commuter), Annabel Mullion (Eight for Silver) and Andrew Scott (1917). Oh, and it’s also worth mentioning that Rotten Tomatoes has already given the drama an impressive score of 80 percent.

The Pursuit of Love was released on Amazon Prime today. So, looks like you already have weekend plans.
