A New Spice Girls Movie Is Coming (and All Five Members Are Involved)

the spice girls

It’s been more than two decades since the release of Spice World (yes, you read that correctly), but it looks like Spice Girl fans are in for a treat—there’s a new movie in the works.

Yup, the Spice Girls are teaming up once again to bring their girl group to the silver screen, only this time, in animated form. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Animation is in early development on the film.

All five members of the '90s group—Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Victoria Beckham (Posh) are on board. The animated film will not only feature Spice Girl classics, but will also contain brand-new music from the group (!).

Other details about the flick (such as plot) are not yet available. However, the production company won't release it until 2020 at the earliest.

Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria told THR that all five of the girls are playing a major role in the film’s development. “They are very involved,” said Soria.

So while it looks like we have a while before we get the Spice Girls back on screen, we will (try) to wait patiently.

Consider our lives spiced up.
