The Biggest Lesson Shailene Woodley Learned from ‘Big Little Lies’ Co-star Meryl Streep

What’s it like working with Meryl Streep? Well, since none most of us will never have the chance to work with the Hollywood icon, we have to rely on people like Shailene Woodley to give us the rundown on the life-changing experience.

When she stopped by the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, the 27-year-old actress opened up about filming the second season of HBO’s hit show Big Little Lies, including everything she learned from her newest cast member.

“She's so wonderfully generous and immediately disarms you with her generosity. You sort of forget for a moment that you're working with a master of her craft,” Woodley said. “Then the cameras start rolling, and she does the thing, and all of a sudden you go, 'Oh God, what am I doing? I've got to get my stuff together.’” Taking the time to be generous? That's a lesson we could all learn from the three-time Academy Award winner.

And that wasn’t all she learned: During the interview, Fallon and Woodley discussed that (now-famous) scream from the season two premiere episode. And in another segment of the show, the two proved that they, too, were able to master the Meryl scream.

Pretty impressive. Big Little Lies airs Sundays, 9 p.m. on HBO.
