Sam Asghari is offering a candid glimpse into his marriage to Britney Spears and how her conservatorship impacted their relationship.

The 30-year-old actor and model recently appeared on the Jan. 27 episode of Sibling Revelry, the podcast hosted by siblings Kate and Oliver Hudson. During the conversation, Asghari reflected on dating and marrying Spears, 43, while she was under a conservatorship that lasted from 2008 to 2021.

Asghari, who stars in season three of The Traitors, admitted that their relationship was going well but that he was concerned about the details of her legal situation.

“That’s when I was like, wait a minute. Like, I thought I’m in America. What do you mean?” he said. “What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents? That was the weirdest thing to deal with.”

When reflecting on their early days, Asghari said he had to navigate the conservatorship carefully as just her boyfriend at the time. “I provided support as much as I could,” he shared, adding that he offered Spears information and resources that he thought might help. “[I] really tried to understand why the conservatorship even happened to begin with,” he explained. “This was my experience in life that I had to go through very gently.”

The couple’s love story began on the set of Spears’s "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. They went public with their relationship the following year, got engaged in 2021, and eventually tied the knot in 2022 after a nine-month engagement. Their marriage ended in divorce in May 2024, but Asghari seems to hold no regrets.

Despite the ups and downs, Asghari looks back on their relationship with gratitude. “I’m always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened,” he shared.
