Britney is finally free!
Since 2008, Britney Spears has been under a conservatorship where her father, Jamie Spears, was put in control of major aspects of her life, including her finances and career decisions. For the last few years, Spears has been trying to get out from under the conservatorship, and her struggle has been highly publicized with recent documentaries like Britney vs. Spears and growth behind the #FreeBritney movement.
Now, after a series of recent legal wins, Spears has finally been freed. It was announced last night when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled in favor of Spears, saying, “The court agrees to the termination of the conservatorship.”
After the decision was made, the 39-year-old singer shared a video of supporters outside of the court and she wrote, “Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy!!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day!!!! Best day ever…praise the Lord…can I get an Amen???? #FreedBritney.”
