  • Prince William was given a new royal role (and more responsibility) over the weekend. On Saturday, Queen Elizabeth appointed the Duke of Cambridge as the new Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. In the position, William will become the British monarch’s personal representative to the Church of Scotland, carrying out official visits and ceremonial duties.

  • Kate Middleton unveiled her latest photographic project on Instagram—portraits of two Holocaust survivors and their families. The duchess’s photographs will be included in an exhibition of 75 images of survivors and their family members, which will open later this year.

  • On Monday, Middleton turned heads in an all-grey ensemble while making a very important Holocaust Memorial Day visit in London. She arrived for a service to mark the 75th anniversary of Auschwitz-Birkenau liberation at Westminster's Central Hall.

  • On Tuesday, Kate Middleton joined a creative workshop run by the National Portrait Gallery’s Hospital Programme at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital to observe how the arts support children’s health, well-being and happiness. During the event, Middleton joined the children as they participated in activities such as photography, illustration and 3D set design. And a little boy even captured her in a sweet Polaroid photo
  • People magazine announced that Queen Elizabeth is set to attend her first official engagements of 2020 on Monday, February 3. The queen will depart her Sandringham estate in Norfolk and travel to King’s Lynn, where she’ll visit the Royal Air Force Marham. (She’s an Honorary Air Commodore of the station.)

  • On Wednesday, the Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit to LEYF—the London Early Years Foundation—Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school in support of her new survey about early childhood development. Middleton met with staff at the preschool and even helped serve breakfast to the kids. 
  • Two brand-new specials aired on TV on Wednesday, January 29: Harry & Meghan: The Royals in Crisis and Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan & the Crown. Both docs explored the behind-the-scenes moments that led to Prince Harry and Markle’s decision and the immense pressure they felt before stepping down.
