For most of us, going to the airport presents a unique problem: You want to be comfortable, but you don’t want to be embarrassed just in case you run into anyone you know. Yesterday, Rihanna introduced the most sensible solution to our airport fashion conundrum and wore a sweatsuit with high heels at the airport. It’s both dressy and casual.
The 31-year-old “Diamonds” singer touched down at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York in what can best be described as the most Rihanna outfit ever.
The Fenty designer repped her New York Yankees pride with a black snapback hat and completed her lewk with enormous jewel drop earrings, a gray hoodie and matching joggers, the ever-popular Dior Oblique tote, and silver Manolo Blahnik embellished slingback pumps from the spring 2019 collection. Her outfit was simultaneously casual and glamorous, and we couldn’t help but wonder if she just threw on the earrings and heels after getting the OK to move about the cabin from the captain (J.K. Rihanna probably doesn’t fly commercial).
Now, maybe RiRi isn’t the only girl in the world who can pull this ensemble off, but it’s certainly a reminder that the Grammy winner creates her own fashion rules. After all, she is the woman who taught us that an all-leather outfit can look effortless if you wear it right and maximalism has a place off the red carpet.
So next time we’re getting ready to travel, we’ll think What would Rihanna do? And opt for sweatpants (but pair them with sneakers).
