‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Star Rachel Brosnahan Looks Nothing Like Midge IRL

During her day job as Midge Maisel on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan rocks a dark brown bob and a slew of ladylike shift dress, glove, coat and pocketbook combos. Her character looks like the epitome of an Upper East Side ’50s housewife. But in real life, the 28-year-old Emmy winner looks nothing like that. In fact, she almost looks like an entirely different person.

Don’t believe us? Then take a peek at a photo of Brosnahan and her husband, fellow actor Jason Ralph, on the red carpet for the Broadway opening night performance of What the Constitution Means to Me at the Hayes Theater in New York this past Sunday.

Yep, that’s the IRL Midge Maisel slaying an off-duty “bronde” hair color and striped pantsuit. Needless to say, we love it.

Brosnahan’s half-up-half-down wavy hairstyle and copper-color eye shadow make a stark contrast to her usual chocolate-colored coif and winged eyeliner look from her hit Amazon series. It’s modern, it’s trendy and Midge’s mom would totally not approve of the fact that she’s wearing pants. We do, however.

Interestingly enough, although Brosnahan’s hair color is new to us, she’s sported the hue before. In her pre–Marvelous Mrs. Maisel days, Brosnahan’s Instagram shows she traded out dyed blonde locks for this same warm bronde in 2016, meaning she’s now literally getting back to her roots. She dabbled with dark hair once before when she booked House of Cards.

Bronde, blonde or brown, we applaud your hair journey, Rachel. (And that pantsuit of yours, obviously.)
