When Priyanka Chopra hit the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Rocketman, our first thought was, She looks incredible, of course. What was surprising was the inspiration behind the sparkling look: the one and only Princess Diana.

For her first major Cannes moment, the actress and newlywed wore a strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with a beaded black and red ombré detail and a thigh-high slit. Naturally, she piled on a ton of jewelry from Chopard. (We'd totally do the same.)
Ahead of the carpet, Chopra posted an iconic picture of Princess Diana to her Instagram with the simple caption: "CANNES." In the photo, Princess Di wears a strapless gown that has the same sweetheart neckline as the one Chopra wore to the Rocketman premiere. Diana's version, however, much much more subdued.
Perhaps hinting at the inspiration behind additional Cannes looks, Chopra also posted photos of Sophia Loren and Grace Kelly (do we sense a royal theme?).
There isn't a ton we have in common with the Quantico star, but apparently worshipping Princess Diana is something we all share.
