Buckingham Palace always has a surprise up its sleeve.

The latest example? Posting a carousel of throwback photos that included childhood pictures of Princess Anne (and her blonde, bouncy curls). The post was captioned: “For almost two centuries, members of the royal family have spent their summers on the Balmoral estate in Scotland. The tradition began in 1852 when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert acquired Balmoral Castle. Since then, the castle and its grounds in the Scottish Highlands have provided the setting for many private and official family moments, and have cemented the family’s affection for Scotland and its people."

“Princess Anne is a born leader,” wrote one commenter. “It’s beautiful photos of beautiful memories,” added another. Buckingham Palace’s throwback post comes just a few days after Princess Anne celebrated her 75th birthday, which prompted well-wishes from many, including Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge posted a royal portrait of Princess Anne, one of two that were released by Buckingham Palace ahead of the milestone occasion, writing, "Wishing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal a very Happy 75th Birthday," according to People.

In the portrait, Princess Anne could be seen wearing a blue collared dress with three-quarter-length sleeves as she smiled at the camera. The Princess wore that same outfit this past June, when she attended a reception at Windsor Castle in honor of the King’s Foundation, which was reported on by Rachel Bowie, senior director of royals and special projects, who called out Princess Anne’s minimal jewelry and the message behind her outfit.

"If there’s one core message that has been delivered by the palace leading up to this milestone occasion, it’s that there will be zero. fuss. made. Yes, the Royal Mint dropped a new coin, but other than that, her intention is to spend the day as she always does: Sailing around western Scotland with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. And that’s that," she wrote.

Happy belated birthday, Princess Anne.
