Cue the birthday celebrations—Princess Anne is set to turn 75 on August 15. But in a very Anne-like move, the Princess Royal is actually doubling down on keeping things chill. A new report in The Sunday Times confirms that Anne is pretty adamant that zero fuss is made. But there is one way she’ll be celebrating and it includes her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.

Per the profile, Anne will will spend her milestone birthday as she does every year—sailing with her husband around western Scotland for 10 days before joining King Charles at Balmoral. Especially unique is that she will head out to sea sans any royal staff on board. In fact, the piece states that Anne’s August birthday tradition with Laurence is her “happy place.” According to friends, it’s also a testament to the strength of her marriage.

“It speaks to their relationship,” a friend is quoted as sharing with The Sunday Times. “They go every May and August and have done it for years. How many couples could go out to sea that often, just the two of them, and still be speaking to each other? She loves it.”

As for any other celebrations, there are nil. The only commemoration that Anne has agreed to is a new coin that will be distributed by the Royal Mint as a tribute to her commitment to duty and royal service. Apparently, despite courtiers’ best efforts to pitch Anne additional birthday ideas, she has refused all suggestions—including any new official birthday portraits or interviews.

Anne’s mindset? According to one aide who spoke anonymously, “She told us she would do things for birthdays that had ‘zeroes, but not for the fives’.”

Hard not to love her fuss-free approach.
