Sunday's British Academy Film Awards (aka the BAFTAs) in London promise to be a star-studded event (nominees include Cynthia Erivo, Timothée Chalamet and Demi Moore, to name a few), but two BAFTAs mainstays are skipping this year's ceremony: Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to Kensington Palace, the Waleses will not be in attendance, though Prince William, 42, will prerecord a video that will be shown at the event, so there will be some royal presence.

Many royal family fans were eagerly awaiting the couples' return to the red carpet. If you remember, Prince William attended last year's BAFTAs solo while his wife underwent treatment for cancer. (Princess Catherine announced last month that she's now in remission.)

The year prior, the royals turned heads on the carpet, with Middleton especially wowing the crowds in a dress she was actually rewearing. (Stars...they're just like us.)

The Princess of Wales showed up to the event in 2023 in a white Alexander McQueen gown that she had previously worn to the ceremony in 2019. However, the royal gave the asymmetrical piece a bit of a facelift: It appears that Princess Catherine replaced the 2019 iteration's floral shoulder detail with a tie.

Here's hoping the stylish royal couple makes their BAFTAs return in 2026.
