Just because they’re self-isolating at Anmer Hall doesn’t mean Prince William and Kate Middleton can’t send virtual birthday wishes to Prince Philip.
In honor of the royal turning 99 today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a rare slideshow on their joint Instagram account (@kensingtonroyal), which included an up-to-date photo of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.
The first picture shows Middleton posing with the birthday boy, followed by a candid snap of Prince William and Prince Philip. The slideshow concludes with a never-before-seen photo of Philip and Queen Elizabeth, which was taken earlier this month in the Buckingham Palace courtyard.
In the new pic, Prince Philip is wearing a classic suit, which he accessorized with a Household Division tie. The queen is wearing a patterned dress, diamond brooch, pearl necklace and simple watch. Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.
The caption read, “Wishing a very happy 99th Birthday to The Duke of Edinburgh! Swipe to see a new photograph of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, released by @theroyalfamily to celebrate his birthday today.”
The royal family also celebrated Prince Philip’s birthday on Instagram and wrote, “This new photograph of The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen was taken last week in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle to mark His Royal Highness’s 99th birthday tomorrow.”
