Buckingham Palace Releases Brand-New Portrait of Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip for His 99th Birthday

Happy birthday, Prince Philip! Queen Elizabeth’s husband officially turns 99 today.

In honor of the milestone, Buckingham Palace released a brand-new photo of Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh on Tuesday. “This new photograph of The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen was taken last week in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle to mark His Royal Highness’s 99th birthday,” the caption read.

In the photo, Philip looks dapper in a suit and tie (his Household Division tie to be exact), while his wife—who turned 94 in April—opted for a floral dress made by her stylist and dear friend Angela Kelly. See the portrait below.

The duke will be keeping his celebrations to a minimum this year with a lunch with the monarch at Windsor Castle. However, other members of his family have already begun sending him well-wishes from afar. On Wednesday, Prince Philip’s grandson Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton shared a series of photographs, writing, "Wishing a very happy 99th Birthday to The Duke of Edinburgh!"

Prince Charles also honored his dad's birthday with two photos of the father-son duo on the Clarence House Instagram. One even featured a black-and-white snap of Charles as a boy enjoying a boat ride with Philip.

And in addition to the new portrait, Queen Elizabeth also shared a handful of old throwbacks with her husband.

There’s really nothing we love more than an official royal portrait.
