Remember the 2010 song “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy? Well, we aren’t the only ones who feel nostalgic while listening to the catchy beat.
In a recent interview with The Observer, the 51-year-old reggae singer opened up about the first time he met Prince Harry. The meet-cute took place back in 2012 during the royal’s visit to the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Jamaica.
It all started when Shaggy’s daughter, Sydney Burrell, called out the Duke of Sussex for destroying her idea of royalty. “My daughter thought he was supposed to be a prince on a horse, like in her storybook,” the musician said.
Prince Harry reacted to the subtle dig and then proceeded to blurt out the lyrics to Shaggy’s hit song. “He turned to me and said, ‘Wow, she’s just so not impressed,’” he continued. “And then he sang, ‘It Wasn’t Me.’ So, Prince Harry is a Shaggy fan!”
