Prince Charles Just Wished Meghan Markle a Happy Birthday

Prince Charles just sent a personal message to his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, on social media.

Today, the Prince of Wales, 72, celebrated the duchess’s 40th birthday by sharing a special tribute on Twitter and Instagram. While the IG Story will disappear in 24 hours, both posts feature the same close-up shot of Markle.

“Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday,” Prince Charles wrote alongside a balloon emoji.

The news might surprise some fans. It’s been speculated that the Prince of Wales hasn’t had the best relationship with Markle ever since she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals. Still, Prince Charles isn’t the only member of the royal family who wished Markle a happy birthday from afar.

Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a birthday message on their joint social media accounts (both Twitter and Instagram), which featured a photo of Markle that was taken during the 2018 royal tour of Australia. The caption read, “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!”

Queen Elizabeth also released a special tribute on the royal family’s official Instagram and Twitter accounts. Her Majesty posted a slideshow of photos and wrote, “[balloon emoji] Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!”

While one of the queen’s pics was the same image she shared on the duchess’s 39th birthday, the other two images represent positive moments in Markle’s life. The first shows Markle holding baby Archie during her and Prince Harry’s South African tour, while the other features the couple at last year’s Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony.

Bring on the birthday tributes.
