Nick Viall Thinks Clare Crawley’s ‘Bachelorette’ Contestants Are Way Too Young

ABC recently released a complete list of the 32 men who will vie for Clare Crawley’s heart on The Bachelorette. It didn’t take long for us to notice that most of the contestants are really, really young—like too young—and it appears we aren’t the only ones who feel that way.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Nick Viall discussed the upcoming season and revealed that he’s disappointed with the list of contestants. Since Crawley is making waves as the oldest Bachelorette (38) in the show’s history, the former Bachelor, 39, expected ABC to do a better job of expanding the age range.

“I’m not a huge fan of that to be honest,” he said. “I think as someone who’s been in that position, you take it seriously and you want to have a chance at meeting someone and the less legitimate options you have, the harder it is.”

Viall went on to say that he has nothing against dating a younger/older woman. However, he can’t see Crawley clicking with someone who’s in their early 20s, since he says men take longer to mature.

“I don’t think it’s realistic to think that her chances [are great] with someone 10 to 12 years younger [than her],” Viall added. “It might be possible, but women are more mature than men. They just are, so it’s harder.”

Guess we’ll have to wait until Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette premieres on Monday, May 18, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
