Nick Jonas narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction ahead of the premiere of The Last Five Years. (And the story is priceless.)

This week, the “Jealous” singer, 32, shared a video on Instagram where he told a hilarious story about a mishap that occurred during rehearsals for his upcoming Broadway show, The Last Five Years (which begins on March 18). Jonas revealed that he and his co-star, Adrienne Warren, were rehearsing a song in front of the cast and crew when he unexpectedly ripped his pants.

“I was singing ‘Moving Too Fast,’ one of my character Jamie’s songs,” Jonas said in the video. “I’m supposed to jump onto this platform, and then pull my costar up onto the platform with me and keep singing. I do it, and I hear a [split noise]. And I’m like, ‘Oh no, oh no.’ Then I feel a cool breeze in a place you don’t want to feel a cool breeze.”

“This is what happened to my pants,” he added as he held up the pants in question, which had a large rip in the crotch area. “They’re not tight pants by any means. It just was the perfect spot and the position that I jumped up.”

This isn’t Jonas’s first time taking the Broadway stage. He originally made his onstage debut back in 2001 when he appeared in Annie Get Your Gun. His last Broadway appearance was over a decade ago in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

Let’s hope Jonas’s costume for The Last Five Years is more durable than his rehearsal outfit.
