Mindy Kaling just shared a rare photo of her daughter, Katherine, and we’re already seeing double.
Yesterday, the Mindy Project star posted a never-before-seen picture on Instagram in honor of her 41st birthday. The pic shows the mother-daughter duo, who are moments away from eating a celebratory brunch in the backyard.
In the photo, Kaling is holding hands with Katherine, who is proudly walking toward the impressive breakfast setup. The actress is wearing a navy-blue maxi dress, while her daughter is sporting a strawberry-themed frock, complete with a matching bow.
Kaling captioned the photo, “A very special birthday morning breakfast.”
The birthday post might surprise fans, since Kaling rarely shares pictures of her daughter on Instagram. When she does, Katherine’s face is strategically blocked, like this sweet shot of the toddler running toward her mom (and away from the camera). Still, if this new photo is any indication, we predict Katherine will bear a striking resemblance to Kaling when she grows up.
Kaling welcomed her daughter back in 2017. (She has yet to reveal the father’s identity.) Katherine’s middle name, Swati, was inspired by the actress’s mother, Dr. Swati Chokalingam, who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer in 2012.
