As Meghan Markle's summer due date approaches, fans and supporters everywhere are frantically trying to predict what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will name baby number two. And now, a few eagle-eyed fans think they have figured it out.
Over the weekend, Global Citizen hosted the 'VAX Live' concert event in an effort to raise awareness and funds for equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution across the globe. The pre-taped show, which was hosted by Selena Gomez, also included a rare speech from the Duchess of Sussex who—along with her husband, Prince Harry—acted as campaign chair for the event.
For the occasion, the 39-year-old looked stunning in a red, floral-print Carolina Herrera dress. But could the outfit choice be more than just a fashion statement? Per Us Weekly, some Twitter users appear to believe the choice of flower was teasing their future daughter’s name: Poppy.
One user wrote, “During the broadcast, Meghan was seen wearing an absolutely gorgeous @carolinaherrera tie-waist shirt dress, covered in…poppies. POPPY!?!!! [baby emoji] [heart emoji] What do we think?!! I’ve always loved the name and think it could be a perfect fit—given the backstory of the distinctive red flower. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope and is often worn to show support for the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families across the U.K.… Given Prince Harry’s ties to the military, the name Poppy would be incredibly fitting.”
“Poppy is the California state flower. Their place of freedom and healing,” another user wrote addressing the connection to the couple’s home in Montecito. Honestly, we’re all for this idea.
However, it’s important to note that Poppy isn’t the only name being thrown around the internet. According to U.K. gambling website Ladbrokes, the baby name “Philippa” has been gaining popularity. Ever since Prince Philip’s tragic passing, the moniker has become a favored prediction.
