Disney Gave Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Son, Archie, the Best Baby Gift Ever
First, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, received a one-of-a-kind baby gift from Oprah Winfrey. And now, the newborn is adding another present to the collection—but this time, it’s from Disney.
The studio created a personalized Winnie-the-Pooh animation in honor of the child’s arrival. Much to our delight, journalist Omid Scobie debuted the clip on Twitter, and we highly recommend you grab some Kleenex.
To celebrate the birth of Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, @Disney have created a special Winnie-the-Pooh animation as a gift for Harry and Meghan. The short was hand-painted in watercolour by Disney?s senior principal artist Kim Raymond. Really special? pic.twitter.com/PrY5wlMeBQ? Omid Scobie (@scobie) May 9, 2019
The video features Pooh carrying a special royal delivery: a storybook. He travels through the One Hundred Acre Wood until he arrives at Windsor Castle. Inside, he joins the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the nursery, where they read the fairy tale alongside a crib labeled “Archie.”
The clip is a hand-drawn watercolor animation by Disney’s Senior Principal Artist, Kim Raymond, and it will likely hold a special place in the couple’s heart. Not only is Prince Harry a longtime Pooh fan, but Markle also gave her nephew, Prince Louis, a rare first-edition book from A.A. Milne, who is the author of Winnie-the-Pooh, in honor of his christening last year.
“I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about,” she said. “So, I don’t know the baby’s name or the baby’s gender, but this baby will have enough books to last a lifetime.”
We can only assume it’s similar to the present she gave to Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Katherine, which included a hand-carved castle-shaped bookcase filled with more than a hundred children’s literature classics, each personalized with a “Katherine’s Book Club” label.
