Meghan Markle Experienced a Blast from the Past During Her Christmas at Sandringham

Meghan Markle hasn’t exactly adhered to traditional protocol this year (and for that we feel blessed). On Christmas day, she continued to shake things up for the royals. This time, it was due to an important part of her pre-duchess days.

While walking to St. Mary Magdalene’s church in Sandringham with the rest of the royals, the Duchess of Sussex’s past showed up in a big way. One of her fans from her blogging days on the (now-defunct) site The Tig was there to see the expecting duchess. According to People, she held her Instagram handle as a sign to catch Markle’s attention.

Markle, recognizing the young woman’s social media account, walked over to give her fan a hug. The sweet exchange was caught by cameras, and the woman captioned the pictures, “[T]oday was an absolute dream. I’m so glad I decided to watch Suits many years ago because it meant I discovered this kind-hearted, caring soul who I’d become to love so much. thank you for everything in the past couple years - I’ll never forget it - from the conversations about social issues + chatting to each other about your blog and your love for food. I love you always.”

Typically, most working royals keep their hands to themselves for security reasons when meeting and greeting the public (though we already know Markle is a hugger). Her departure from the rules (during her Christmas with the queen, no less!) is just another way she's shaking up the old guard.

And we're sure she just wanted to soak in the flattery of a big fan, of course.
