Meghan Markle Just Made a Major Donation to Support Refugees

Meghan Markle is continuing to support charities close to her heart.

On Friday, Migrateful, a charity that aims to “support migrants in a number of ways relating to wellbeing, employability and integration,” announced on Twitter that it recently received a $10,000 donation from the Duchess of Sussex. The organization runs cooking classes, which helps build confidence and ecourage social connections while promoting cultural exchange within the community.

“We're so excited to share that we have received a donation of £8000 from The Royal Foundation on behalf of The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle! We are immensely grateful for this donation which will go towards supporting the Migrateful mission,” the organization announced on Twitter.

ICYMI: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially dissolved their royal charity, which was created after the couple split from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s organization, now called The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

And while a good chunk the foundation’s 2019’s profits went to this cause, Prince Harry’s share was donated to his eco-tourism venture Travalyst (something critics were not necessarily happy about). However, Harry defended his actions in a rare personal statement

“The Duke of Sussex has always and continues to remain deeply committed to his charitable work,” the letter began, according to Just Jared. “This is his life’s focus, and his devotion to charity is at the very core of the principles he lives by, and is obvious through the impact and success of his many charitable projects throughout the UK and beyond.”

So, while we’re officially saying “ta-ta” to the Royal Foundation, it’s nice to see that the organization is still helping causes most meaningful to the Sussexes.
