Will ‘Virgin River’ Star Martin Henderson Return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Alongside Abigail Spencer?

Now that we know Abigail Spencer (AKA Dr. Megan Hunt) is making her big return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for season 18 of Grey’s Anatomywe only have one question: Will Virgin River’s Martin Henderson be joining her?

This week ABC confirmed that Spencer will reprise her role as Dr. Hunt on the drama’s upcoming installment. Per Deadline, Dr. Hunt—who was portrayed on seasons 14 and 15 of the series—will be present in the first episode premiering on September 30.

The last time we saw Hunt, who is the little sister of Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and also served in the U.S. Army, she moved to California with her adopted son Faroul and her fiancée, Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson).

It’s also important to note that before he rekindled his romance with Dr. Hunt (they fell in love when they served together), Dr. Riggs was Meredith’s first love interest after the death of her husband, Derek Shepherd. He starred in a total of 48 episodes between 2015 and 2017.

So, if Hunt is coming back, what about her fiancée/husband? The popular series has remained mum on the subject. That, plus the fact that Henderson has been busy with Virgin River these days, leads us to believe Rigg’s return is unlikely. However, as Hello! points out, it’s not impossible.

Per the outlet, the show’s latest promo has fans speculating that he could make an appearance in the first episode. In the clip, an unknown man needs to be rushed to the hospital. And Meredith, Teddy and Owen’s reactions make it seem like they might know the individual. Watch the clip above and see for yourself.

Guess we’ll just have to wait 21 more days to find out.
