You Can Get Mandy Moore’s Lived-in Waves Thanks to These Tips from Her Hairstylist

Last week, Mandy Moore swapped her golden-brown locks for a brand-new chestnut-colored bob. It’s chic, it’s low-key and it’s so Mandy.

The best part? The 34-year-old This Is Us star’s celeb hairstylist Ashley Streicher just told us exactly how Moore styles her hair on the reg and why she chopped it in the first place.

When Moore reached out to Streicher for a fresh look, there was no reason for the switch up other than the fact that like us, Mandy Moore, likes a revamp every once in a while. “We both just felt like it was time for a change. When I asked her if I could cut her hair short, her reply was, ‘Whatever inspires you!’” Streicher explained exclusively to PureWow.

So Streicher “ran with it” and suggested Moore test out her shortest bob yet. “We both agreed on her new cut and also agreed that it was nice to get rid of that extra length and energy. The cut is super fresh and feels like a new start,” Streicher said.

And although the hairstylist revealed her seven-step approach to styling Moore’s new ’do when it first made its debut, she was quick to admit the actress doesn’t follow that regimen every day.

“We’re still playing with styling…But for her everyday hair I’ve taught her how to let it dry naturally with a little bit of Garnier Pure Clean Detangler + Air Dry ($5) and some Garnier Beach Chic Texturizing Spray ($3),” Streicher noted. “When it’s almost dry I have her add a little bit of Style Smooth Blow Dry ($2) to the ends to help fight frizz. Once it’s dry with her natural waves and texture, she’s free to flip it from side to side.”

The result? Super chill lived-in waves we can’t wait to try for ourselves.
