Last year Mandy Moore channeled her 1999 self and went blonde after wrapping This Is Us season two. This time around, the 34-year-old actress is taking a break from Rebecca Pearson with a whole new ’do.
Moore freshened up her locks with a vibrant Garnier Nutrisse chestnut hue ($9) and tapped her go-to celeb hairstylist Ashley Streicher to complement it with an au courant piece-y bob. Yes, Mandy Moore used box color and—spoiler alert—it turned out beautifully.
To accentuate Moore’s new hue, Streicher tells PureWow she started by washing Moore’s hair with Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Shampoo ($3) and Conditioner ($3). She then sprayed Pure Clean Detangler + Air Dry ($8) to Moore’s damp locks.
Next, Streicher parted the actress’s hair in the middle, combed it and cut straight across from the center (whatever you do, don’t try that at home). She followed up the initial chop by pushing the hair in front of Moore’s ears and cutting toward the back, then combing it down straight and cutting toward the face. Easy!
To get a good look at the cut, Streicher then applied a pea-size amount of Garnier Style Smooth Blow Dry ($3) and dried Moore’s hair with a small round brush in order to create volume. Can you say va-va-voom?
And just like that, Mandy Moore’s brown locks got a whole lot sassier. Now if only our box dye jobs turned out this well…
