Lady Gaga Was the Taylor Swift of the 2019 Grammys

Taylor Swift and Chrissy Teigen were noticeably absent at the 61st annual Grammy Awards, but Lady Gaga was happy to step in as the token dancing person in the audience this year.

The 34-year-old nine-time Grammy winner carried on Swift and Teigen’s awkward dancing legacy with some moves of her own during Janelle Monae’s performance. Just watch how hard she’s rocking out.

Now, if you watched the Grammys or at least Gaga’s, uh, passionate performance of “Shallow,” then you know she was living life in all caps. The head banging! The 15-second stare at the camera! The head bob during the opening monologue! Gaga definitely came to the Grammys ready to shine, and not just because of her Celine sequin dress.

To be fair, Gaga wasn’t the only person dancing, but she was the only one dancing as full out as Monae during the performance.

In past years, T-Swift and Teigen have done the honors and got their groove on from their seats, but they weren’t able to attend this year because of the BAFTAS and “laziness,” respectively.

Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born co-star, Bradley Cooper, was also missing in action (aka at the BAFTAs). Cooper still made his mark on the evening by sending Gaga love from across the pond and was referenced several times at the Grammys by Mother Monster…obviously.

If we learned anything last night, it’s that there can be 100 people in an award show room but none of them can match Lady Gaga’s intensity during Monae’s performance.

If only Bradley Cooper was there to dance by her side.
